Barbary Sheep or Aoudad Hunting, Spain

Hunting Season: October – February/March (we recommend hunting from October to January)

The Barbary or Aoudad sheep is an important member of the Big 5 Ovis, he is the sheep bonusball, consided by some sources as cross of both a capra and an ovis, and although on a smaller scale his horns certainly resemble Dagestan Tur of the Caucasus. Native to North Africa, the Aoudad was re-introduced to Spain in the 1970’s to the Sierra Espuna. Although he can now be found throughout the Southern Provinces, we have access to marvellous private hunting grounds around the Sierra Espuna and there is obviously nowhere better in the country to secure a trophy Aoudad

Hunters can expect temperatures from: 0 to 30 C, In the Winter months it can be cold in the mornings, with it warming up in the afternoon sun,
The peaks of these mountains can reach altitudes of 1800m. The sheep seldom rest in view, preferring to stick to the shade of the Pine trees in the midday sun. When they do graze they are often moving making catching them extremely challenging. Although there are good inroads to the hunting grounds, sportsmen or women can expect to walk considerably further than they would for Ibex, in our opinion this is one of Spain’s most unique hunts. The warm and dry climate, good food and culture make this a very pleasurable hunt all season. Due to our access to the Sierra Espuna, we anticipate very high success in this hunt, with 100% success so far. However there are very few Gold Standard Barbary sheep in Spain with only 14 being shot in the last 40 years, 11 of which were shot in our area. Our services are available throughout Turkey, Europe and across several continents, including Africa and Oceania.
There is also an option to harvest Sierra Nevada Ibex, and Wild Boar
