With the rise in popularityof Kyrgyzstan as a hunting destination over the last decade many bogus outfitters have appeared, although the Government is now clamping down on this booking direct with a Kyrgyz outfitter can be risky. We have worked in Kyrgyzstan since 2010 and have experienced both good and bad outfitters. The pelage of Mid Asian Ibex varies greatly throughout his range, with no obvious reason as to why. Some animals display prominent white saddles and dorsal patches, whilst others appear dark or even tan all over. Despite an increase in hunting, we feel that there is not enough being put back into conservation of ibex in Kyrgyzstan, and although a natural protectionism has occurred through the guides and locals to whom hunters are invaluable, poaching does still occur.

Our base camps are situated at around 3200 metres allowing the keenest andstrongest hunters to climb the peaks to bring down one of the toughest goats on the planet. Whereas Sheep rely on their speed and stamina to outrun the hunter and quite frankly disappear, the Ibex relies on his extreme climbing ability.
Once spooked this capra heads straight to the highest and most inaccessible rock on the mountain, where he will often sit, watching you from a distance, safe in the knowledge that even if you were to shoot him, extraction would be impossible.
Due to the vast terrain that must be covered in order to find the ibex, who, although present, are scantily scattered throughout the vast open Wilderness of the Tian Shan Mountains. Horses are used to cover the long miles required to find the right billy, and although you may see many Ibex, a lot may not be accessable or safe to try. This is a high intensity hunt, and fitness is required, you do not need to be an athlete, but you will enjoy your experience an awful lot more if you
are in shape for it.
